LJIdol / LPF: Week 2: My Mount Rushmore
I am learning how to love my own skin
Rejecting impossible standards
I am learning how to love myself
---------------------
100 words
And all that is within

My heartbeat like crashing waves
Under abundant breasts
Body positivity
Rejecting impossible standards
Accepting me
The self inflicted scars
Carved into my arms
My Mount Rushmore of bad days
And half remembered pains
The birth marks and freckles and
Misshapen toes
My unaligned eyes
That make strangers nervous
I will break through these distortions
Until I have reclaimed every inch of my skin
Where it stretches and curves
Cherry blossom tinted
Strong despite assumptions
I am expanding my expectations
I am learning how to love myself

I believe all of us are imperfectly perfect - we are unique - and so many times we forget that and fail to appreciate our lives and our stories and yes even our scars.
I loved the way you incorporated the prompt into this.
Well Done.

I am ALL about it!
Then, of course, we changed course. Direction. And wow. In 100 words you managed to paint a picture of pain and damage and hope and despair. I'd do anything to change that pain. It's real for too many people. If we'd all just look at what we have in common, rather than what we have that's different... well, what a world it would be. <3

I just smile and nod at people who have faux health concerns.

Until I have reclaimed every inch of my skin
The distortions, the remembered pain of hard times, but yet knowing that you have survived all of it.
There is such strength in seeing and letting go and forging the path forward. Wishing you well with all of this!
